| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 3.5/5 | | Pioneer is still a good electronics manufacturer.: Rating: 5/5 |
I have had this DVD Recorder for nearly 2 1/2 years now and it is superb!
It still works exactly the same as the day I bought it, despite me dropping it once when I moved house and also dropping a PC case on the top of it (just above the DVD drive) once - and well it may be dented but it still records and plays just the same. Everything about it is solid and feels well made - in the case of the remote it is comfortable and no buttons have failed.
The connections for this player are so plentyful you will have no difficulty connecting your items - I have previously had four devices connected at the same time - two through scart, one through component and one on the rear input connectors (exactly the same as the ones on the front).
The menu is a little complex for the average joe - I would recommend you actually look at the manual (yes this means you Dad!!) to get all the features working at their highest quality - the settings for the colour and quality of the recording alone take up a whole section in the menu. Oh and yes you DO want to turn Progressive recording on - a much sharper picture with no tearing (that I have seen from a cheaper DVD Recorder that my friend has).
Right that's it...now I'm off to see what else I can drop. | | Pioneer DVR-230: Rating: 2/5 |
| I have owned many Pioneer products over the years - turntables, amplifiers, tape decks, etc, and most of them have been excellent. This is the exception. From very early on it has had a fault whereby the picture freezes on playback and it can not recover from this except by pulling out the mains plug and re-starting. The disc drive was replaced after 8 months, which rectified this for a while but it soon re-appeared. So unreliable that, if I am recording a programme I really want to keep, I set my old VCR as well, as a standby! | |
