| This is a great unit, I have it hooked up to a Samsung LED tv via an optical lead. It sounds great on TV, ipod, radio (for which it tuned in any channel with no problems),Blu-rays and amazing on the PS3 (especially COD). The wireless sub makes it so easy to set up without playing with too many wires, it easy to set up as well, plug and play so an absolute doddle for non-techs. The blu ray player is as good as you would expect with Samsung, an allround excellent piece of kit, i am very happy with it and glad I spent that little bit extra for the Blu-ray player. I also had it on the wireless LAN so you can watch YouTube on your TV, a great idea, it also plays videos a lot smoother over the internet than my macbook! Great product, would recommend to all!!!!! | | Sounds good but has problems: Rating: 3/5 |
We bought this device to improve the sound quality on our Samsung LED TV. This it certainly does and also matches the appearance of the Samsung TV. However we had problems commissioning the unit as there seems to be a bug in the firmware that gives frequent "mode not supported" errors unless the device is plugged into the HMDI1 port on the TV. Once we figured this out it started working reasonable satisfactorily. These are the pros and cons that we experienced:
Pros:
Sounds good, particularly the bass which is clean without irritating resonances
Wireless woofer is nice as it can be sited anywhere in a room without a wire leading to the soundbar
Nice compact unit which matches Samsung's TVs
One control unit can be used for sound system, Blue-Ray disc and TV
Cons:
Cooling fan noise, while not loud, is audible and annoying
The controls for operating the remote to control soundbar and the TV are confusing and unnecessarily complicated
The built-in FM radio seems to have poor sensitivity with the aerial supplied and does not display station identification
Sometimes will not load a disk on the first try (usually loads it on the second attempt) | |
